01The challenge
What the client needed.
A Northern Emirates aggregate operator needed sustained 24-hour haulage capacity across a four-year programme. The contract penalty for unplanned downtime was material; the abrasive duty cycle of the bench-to-crusher route was guaranteed to chew tyres, undercarriages and hydraulic seals at well above OEM-published rates.
02Our approach
How we structured it.
- 01Dedicated fleet allocation — a named pool of HM-series articulated dumpers and PC-class excavators reserved for the programme, branded with the client asset numbers.
- 02On-site service caravan stationed at the quarry, staffed by Strong Plant field engineers, with the consumables and high-runner parts to close 90% of unplanned events without leaving site.
- 03Summer-shortened preventive-maintenance cycles on long-duty assets — 250 h intervals between May and September against the OEM-published 500 h.
- 04Weekly parts replenishment from the Mussafah yard, scheduled out of band with crusher loading.
- 05Single account manager and a 24/7 service-desk number; everything documented in a per-asset asset card.
03Equipment on the contract
What was on site.
- Articulated dump trucks (HM-class) — primary haulage fleet
- Crawler excavators (PC-class) — bench loading
- Wheel loaders — crusher feed and yard duty
- Mobile fuel bowser — bulk diesel on site
- Generator set — workshop and lighting power
04The outcome
What it delivered.
- 99.4 % uptime across the contract — measured against scheduled productive hours.
- Zero lost-time injuries across the deployment period.
- ~ 18 % undercarriage-life extension on excavators vs the comparable prior-contractor fleet, attributed to the shortened summer PM cycle.
- Contract extended past initial four-year term.
